Popping Butterflies
I quit my slumber at 5am this morning, fighting hard the Zzz monster. But I got a bigger mission, taking picture of emerging butterflies. Well, I took some “caterpillar to butterfly” pictures before (see here), but at that time I missed the emerging scenes.
2 weeks ago, I had an urge to get a citrus-tree. As always, when I have an urge, I will go for it, without 2nd thought. Anyway I got the citrus-tree for cheap, only USD2 !!! Hohoho… and it came with a set of…. Guess it!!!….Yap!!! A set of caterpillars !!!
From so many caterpillars, only 4 survived to go to chrysalis stage. And last Saturday, one chrysalis already hatched. So yesterday, before I go to bed, I checked the chrysalises, 2 are confirmed to “hatch” early this morning. Butterflies always hatch in the dawn.
So, 1st thing I did is I moved the plants into the building for better lighting (it was super dark outside. I had just enough time to set up my camera, and 1st butterfly emerged, in just 1-2 seconds. I took some of her pictures, then I focus on the 2nd un-emerged butterfly, there, I was able to capture the emerge of a butterfly. It was quick! The newly emerged butterflies peed some thick grayish liquid for a few times (no scent what-so-ever, yeah, I smelled it, since she peed on my hand). They both emerged with a wrinkled wings, but in no time, it just straighten up, but they both took along time to dry their new wing & more pee-ing (making them having a slender torso)
After spending 2 hours in my apartment for a photoshooting session, I brought the citrus plant back outside, and both Swallowtail butterflies then flew away. So glad!!! Yeah I did my research, it is a Swallowtail butterflies ^.^
Ah… 1 more to go, the last chrysalis. ^.^
Hope they come back to lay their eggs here ...

Mini Tomatoes
The taste was OK, not too sour, but not too sweet too. The texture was awesome, it’s firm and crunchy. The only off thing is the skin, it is kinda thick. Well for such a size, I wouldn’t really mind the skin texture. I am simply content to enjoy my own produce.
The tree is still alive, still flowering. But recently, maybe cause too windy, some of the flower dropped off. I guess I should trim it a bit. Please enjoy the picture :)

Welcome Baby
My baby …
Was conceived on a sweet evening of 14th Feb 2009
Then there was baby bumps
Body doubled in size
On the 18th, baby was born
With one hand poking out reaching to me
A new life was born
Baby, welcome to the world
May you grow up big and healthy
Love you, Baby
Was named LOTUS
All started from a lotus seed that I obtained from a lotus farmer in Vietnam. She was crushing lotus seeds before frying them. It was lotus harvest at that time. I saved 3 lotus seeds before she crushed them all. 2 of them were with my dad. I took one back with me to Jakarta. I kept it for so long. Almost forget about it.
Then on the night of Valentine’s day, I took the seed out, then I scarified with a small nail file, then put it in a small container, soaked in water. In a few hours, the seed showed a bump. In one night, the seed doubled in size. I was a bit worried that the seed won’t sprout. Was looking at the seed every minute of my waking hours. But after 4 days, I was so excited, so so happy!!! The dimpled end of the seed cracked, peeping a tiny green flesh. From that day onwards, the growth was visible. It grew longer and longer, one hand reaching out, then followed by another hands. It is so beautiful, very much in love with my baby.
Please enjoy the picture above, showing the growth stages of my baby lotus. I will keep updating its development.
