Patched Patch Patched and Repatched

It finally ripped off :(
Ask any girl, you will know how hard it is to find that one special comfy jeans.
I had this one for more than 5 years and been wearing it almost everyday unless it is in the laundry.
When I first bought it, it has a little cool wear sign.
But then, it gets bigger and bigger... so I patched it with a white brocade piece.
After years of tear and wear... The patched patch finally gave up, leaving a big wide hole on my knee. It ended when I was having my last trip in Taiwan.
Too much kneeling, I think.

It stays that way until I found a perfect piece of Batik.
So, here it is
Don't you think it gives a little ethnic vibe? Pretty isn't it

How I did it, was ironing the batik patch to the jeans using a iron-on adhesive before sewing a zigzag circle on the hole. Hope these pics help :)

Needle Felted Poodles

Always been fascinated about needle felting, even before I know the method's name. The first time I saw needle felting was in Istanbul-Turkey's Grand Bazaar. I dun understand why they can create something from wool without any knitting. Magic!
Googled the net and still wonders why stabbing a loose wool can create a figure? Doesn't make sense at all.

But then last month, when I was visiting Ginza's handicraft haven (Tokyu Hands), I bought a needle felting kit: it has all the wool material, instructions and the most important thing: the needle!!!
And since I have the urge to master this method, I end up buying more kits that I could ever imagine - especially for something I've never done before

This is my first attempt in needle felting, quite satisfied about the result. I think I am not too bad for a beginner (tap on my own shoulder. haha!)

How do you like my fluffy poodles?

Kitty Purse

I made this little purse out of a DIY set I bought from Bear Mama DIY shop in Taiwan. Been keeping it for a year, always thought it's very hard to make.
But last week, the crafty bug bitten me again, and finally I braved myself to give it a try. Not too bad, right?
I wanna give it a try again, without the kit. Now the problem is, not all of the material are available in my humble hometown

Anyway, I put this "before" picture just to prove that I made this, by my hand. Hehhee... Cos I got some comments saying that it wont be possible that I made it. Here is the proof.

Nara's DIY diaper-cover

When I browse for free baby clothing pattern, this one really draws my attention. Seems so simple yet so cute. I whipped up 2 of them from my fabric stash. What do you think of it?
I made slight alteration from the pattern, I dunno if Nara's diaper is much larger or Nara's bum is just big; but it seems he needs more rear space.

Baby pants - NASA

R: Nara with "a lot of attitude" pose
L: sorry a bit blurry, he soon wanna snatch away my blackberry
Yesterday I dug up for old t-shirt to make some little pants for Nara. Found this old NASA t-shirt, one that his dad wore during his college time. Hahahaha....
I took some of Nara's existing pants as patterns, tracing it on some newpaper as a pattern.

And voila!, 1 t-shirt into 2 pants: 1 long one and 1 short one. How cute is that?
I choose this dark coloured t-shirt as my first trial. Made some mistakes, but the dark coloured fabric just kept everything hidden. Hope you won't notice it :)
The re-purposing old t-shirt project is inspired by this tutorial
I copied the pattern from the existing white pants  (2nd pic)

Nara's Ribbon and String Toy

My sis-in-law noticed that Nara loves to play with ribbons and strings, so she asked me to make something for Nara.
Here is what I made, all from scraps: ribbons from luggage tags, shopping bag, name-card tag, and exhibition tag.
The square was made from a scrap fabrics, and some scrap felt (as insert to give more body).
I put a removable clip-on necklace, so he wouldn't be able to drop it; just in case if he was playing it outside the house
I tried to make it as colourful as possible, mix and matching my limited resources.

Hope this little thing will keep him busy :)
There are some different features on each side

Miniature Greenies

Bought little ceramic cups, and here is what I made out of it: a miniature living plants on tiny pot.
They are now displayed at my agriculture store. Just to refresh the atmosphere :)
Cute, right?
Love the red leaves :)

Baby in Costumes

Baby in Tie
I made a little tie from some scrap silk fabric, and attached to Nara's white plain jumper.

I think it turns out quite good, Nara loves it.
He loves to nibble on his tie.

Nara the Big Bad Wolf
And I made a "Big Bad Wolf" costume for Nara to attend Joey's 2nd B-day which theme was "Little Red Riding Hood". Too bad the party was cancelled into private family party. >.<~

I made his hat using a T-shirt fabric, hand-stitched into a little hat.
I mixed felt and a grey towel fabric to shape the wolf character.

Somehow it turned out looking more like a cat rather than a wolf. Hahhahaa.

And I used his socks and stitched it with some grey towel fabric, glued with felt claws.

A basic white bib should be sufficient for his belly, but since Nara don't have any white bib, I stitched a small white towel on his little jumper :)

And his tail attached to his jumper with a velcro for easy removal.

I put quite an effort to make this costume for Nara. He's not old enough to understand that his auntie loves to dress him up. Hahahaha
Once he grow up, he probably gonna refuse to be dolled :)

Love you little Nara.
You made a cute Big Bad Wolf.

Journey to The West

I used to love to watch "Monkey King". Since I found this clay thing, been so eager to put them into clay arts. It was a super fun experience to do research on these character of "Journey to The West", which lead me to know more detail of this legendary legend. I even had a weird dream about them (that I was on a chase and they all saved me) Hahahahaa...
For more pics pls check out "Journey to The West" photo album.
